EvilWezil – Chronophobe
Attention residents of 3052. I, the future’s EvilWezil, have travelled back in time to free my past self from your unbreakable ultraprison. Together, we bring the destruction of your valuable time line. Those of you who continue to exist, you will not remember the world as it now is known. We shall erase your ancestors, Summer Sage, and your Chrononauts is not match for our armada which has all the splendid villains of history. We do not desire the money already. We pursue only vengeance, and times are on our side. EvilWezils cannot be stopped!!!

Been anxiously awaiting this album ever since you announced its impending release on your 8BC page, EvilWezil. And it does not in any small way disappoint! ‘The Tower’ is still one of the finest pieces I’ve yet to hear from you (the rhythm of that piece still blows my formally-trained mind) and ‘Operation Timeout’ is an outstandingly aggressive, toe-tapping way to open the album. Your keen sense for propellant rhythms is definitely on display everywhere across this album, from ‘Code Purple’ and ‘Epochalpyse’ to the title track itself. I also have to smile at the ‘Chubby Mailman’-esque charm and brightness tracks such as ‘Cloud Nine’ and ‘Bojo’ bring to the mix. This is definitely a more serious album than your first but it represents a kind of natural evolution that makes sense as a successor to your self-titled debut. ‘Singularity Falls’ makes for a strong finale too; a weighty, serious piece (love the crisp voicing) to chew on in closing.
I’ve had the urge to start writing reviews for chiptune albums since being immersed so suddenly in this particular musical medium just a couple months ago. Since most of you release the majority (or all) of these albums for free, I figure the least a fan such as myself can do is offer some constructive criticism and, of course, gushing praise. Based on the pure greatness of this new release, I think ‘Chronophobe’ will have to be the first album I review for my blog. I know I can’t be alone in saying how much we look forward to hearing what your future compositions bring and how fortunate we are to have your current two exceptional Pause albums upon which our ears and minds can gleefully feast.

This album is amazing. I just downloaded it and haven’t had the chance to listen to it straight through yet but the sound you are able to get out of just a gameboy blows my mind. I’ve seen live bands that have less energy than this. I’m showing all my buddies this thing. Keep up the good work. I am going to go for a drive and probably blow out my speakers.

The Novikov self-consistency principle, also known as the Novikov self-consistency conjecture, is a principle developed by Dr. Igor Novikov in the mid-1980s to solve the problem of paradoxes in time travel, which is theoretically permitted in certain solutions of general relativity (solutions containing what are known as closed timelike curves). Stated simply, the Novikov consistency principle asserts that if an event exists that would give rise to a paradox, or to any “change” to the past whatsoever, then the probability of that event is zero. In short, it says that it’s impossible to create time paradoxes.

Operation Timeout, 2:22.
I died around there and therefore could not make it to the end of the album. EvilWezil claims another victim.
