It is the year 2042 AD. The world has gone down the pooper and now, Stinker City, one of the last few cities still standing is about to crumble in the hands of the Jihad Gang, a group of four super criminals set loose upon the city. You are Jacob Bentspine, better known as Warlock, the guardian of Stinker City. It’s your job to hunt down and apprehend these criminals. Music written over the course of a couple of weeks. To make it worthwhile there’s also an unused track included, as well as a version of the final battle theme that was “too grumpy” for laz.

Remember how when you listened to 4mat’s ‘Decades‘ your mind was totally blown? Remember how the album ended with a cryptic cumputer voice spouting a series of numbers? Today, 4mat announced that these numbers are the actual ascii code that translates into a new Tumblr blog that documents demos and alternative versions of songs from ‘Decades’. Pause looking for Webdev Wizard.

We have some excellent ideas in the works. Some of which are going to require an extra, especially able-bodied pair of hands. Between the three of us who run and maintain Pause (Eirik, Steve, and Myself) there is about a quarter of a web developer. We’re looking for someone with some serious webdev/coding skills who can not only contribute to Pause creatively (curating compilations, demo review, etc.), but someone who can help us move forward in more dynamic ways on the web. Prof. Sakamoto’s concept album tells the tale of a distant future who’s inhabitants are able to transplant slots into the top of their heads. Into these slots, game cartridges are inserted, giving the bearer special abilities. ‘Insert’ is the soundtrack to the battle between those who choose to use these powers for good; and who must save the world from evil scientists that use these abilities in an attempt to rule the world.

There has been some discussion within Pause and externally about some of our recent releases which had already been available elsewhere. We wanted to fill you guys in in our own reasoning behind the re-releasing of albums like 4mat’s “Decades”, Zan-zan-zawa-veia’s “N0De-claw” and Peer’s “Dances”. Our primary goal at Pause is to help spread the good word of chipmusic. Over the last three years we hope that we’ve become synonymous with a certain level of quality, and we are very grateful to all of you for your continued support and for helping to make Pause a place where people keep coming back to hear great new stuff.

When we re-release material, we’re hoping to increase the viewership of music we feel is awesome and deserves to be heard by the masses. In most cases the music had prior only been released on a musician’s homepage, and perhaps isn’t receiving as much attention as it could be. We hope to increase the awareness of this great music by using our position of relative popularity for the greater good. We feel it’s a win-win, and hopefully you guys do too.
