“Late to the Party” Releases.
There has been some discussion within Pause and externally about some of our recent releases which had already been available elsewhere. We wanted to fill you guys in in our own reasoning behind the re-releasing of albums like 4mat’s “Decades”, Zan-zan-zawa-veia’s “N0De-claw” and Peer’s “Dances”. Our primary goal at Pause is to help spread the good word of chipmusic. Over the last three years we hope that we’ve become synonymous with a certain level of quality, and we are very grateful to all of you for your continued support and for helping to make Pause a place where people keep coming back to hear great new stuff.
When we re-release material, we’re hoping to increase the viewership of music we feel is awesome and deserves to be heard by the masses. In most cases the music had prior only been released on a musician’s homepage, and perhaps isn’t receiving as much attention as it could be. We hope to increase the awareness of this great music by using our position of relative popularity for the greater good. We feel it’s a win-win, and hopefully you guys do too.
We’d love to hear how you, the fans, feel about this practice, so feel free to shoot us an e-mail or leave a comment.

I think it’s a good idea. I mean, if I have the album already I’ll just ignore the re-release. I didn’t know the Decades album by 4mat until this release, so I’m really glad you’re doing this!

I’m grateful for your re-releases. I’m hearing amazing things I would have never known existed if it weren’t for it being re-released here.

I think it might be important to note that the ‘less than obsessed’ listener of chip music probably isn’t out there avidly searching for it. They visit net labels such as Pause or 8 Bit Peoples as their only source for these kinds of albums, and these ‘Late to the Party’ releases are great for the casual listener, giving them easy access to the best of the best that chip music has to offer.

I Agree with both the three comments above me. I really love this website. Some of my all time favorite albums I’ve found here. So keep it up the way you do!

Spot on about expecting high quality from here. It’s the links to the original homepages (and comments here
) that lead to some great treasure hunts. So as far as spreading the love of this music, good job.

I’ve gotta say that I like the rereleases… especially considering that I generally don’t realize they’re rereleases to begin with. I just check your RSS feed and when I see new musics I’m totally happy.

Wholeheartedly agree with the comments above. Specially since Pause is my main source of chipmusic, so I for one am very thankful for the re-releases.
